  • CSW: New CSW Server * Effective Today

    by Nicole Parry | May 14, 2012

The Corporate Spatial Warehouse (CSW) has been migrated to a new SDE server, CSWPROD, effective Monday May 14, 2012. You MUST make changes to your CSW database connections immediately in order to have access to the most recent data.

The old CSW database, i.e. SDECSW, will continue to be available for a short time to aid in the transition; however, data will no longer be updated in this environment.

Geomatics Yukon has created a detailed document summarizing all the required changes in the CSW migration project, including adding and removing CSW layers and the new connection information. Please use this document to make your changes accordingly.

    CSW Migration Documentation for Users

If you have already migrated your database connections to use CSWPROD you will now be accessing information from our new servers; however, any old MXDs you have created will need to be migrated in order to see the current database information.

We have all worked hard to make this transition happen and we greatly appreciate your patience and attention!

    Thank you,

    Niki (and Lauren)

  • MXD SDE Data Source Change - Methods and Tool release

    by Ryan Gould | May 10, 2012

There are two methods for changing the data sources in your MXDs: updating a single map manually, or using automated tool to update one, or multiple maps. Both methods are outlined in this document.

Procedures for manually updating a single map (MXD) are outined under Updating a Single Map (MXD).

The automated method, described under Automated Methods for Updating One or More Maps (MXD), uses a custom tool that will allow you to change all the CSW and OPR SDE connections contained in your map with one step.  This is the simplest method for complicated MXDs; however, it requires an ArcInfo license level to run.  If you choose this method, you MUST return your license to ArcView immediately following completion of the tool’s process.

Please follow the instructions in the readme file (linked above) to install the ChangeSDEConnectionPath tool with your copy of ArcGIS.

Note: Both ArcInfo and ArcView licenses are in short supply these days, so please close ArcGIS if you are leaving the office, or are not actively using the software.

A reminder the CSW migration day is scheduled for this Monday May 14 and therefore your old MXDs will no longer be accessing the most current data until you change them.

If you have problems with this tool please contact:

  • CSW: Sky layers migration project

    by Nicole Parry | Nov 14, 2011

Currently Geomatics Yukon is undertaking a project to migrate all the remaining data from the Sky SDE instance into CSW.  This project is being done in association with EMR Informatics and all the applicable data custodians.  The data will be remodeled and loaded into CSW with metadata and layerfiles.

The following groups of layers are being migrated:

    • Base Information - Water 2M, Toponymy 10k, Gazatteer, Regional Overview
    • Community Land Planning - Block Land Transfer and OIC boundaries
    • Forest Inventory
    • Claims and Indian Government - Interim Protected and other special interest layers
    • First Nations Settlement Lands - Interim Protected and Unsurveyed
    • Oil & Gas data
    • Yukon Landsat Mosaic 90m

This Sky migration project needs to take place prior to our migration to ArcGIS SDE 10 and to new CSW and Operational SDE servers in order to simplify and streamline our infrastructure.

After the migration is completed users will have to redirect all their projects to use these new layers in CSW.

  • Imagery: GeoEye and WorldView Available update

    by Nicole Parry | Nov 07, 2011

    For internal government users:

Good morning, in my email on Friday I mentioned that the WorldView and GeoEye image services will only work with ArcGIS 10. I want to clarify that this is true for the Image Service only, the source rasters can potentially be used in other software.

You can access the source imagery here:

Note: if you need prepared imagery, please check the 'Processed' folder. The 'Unprocessed' folder contains the imagery as it was received from the satellite provider.

    Thanks, -r
