Metadata is information about a dataset, such as who is responsible for it, when it was created, what its source was, its spatial extent, its accuracy, and other characteristics about the data. Every dataset should have metadata attached to it.
Metadata is available through the CSW Metadata Server for all data layers in the Yukon Government CSW.
The Government of Yukon follows the FGDC standard for capturing metadata. Further information on the FGDC standard can be found at the following URL: http://www.fgdc.gov/metadata/geospatial-metadata-standards
Other Metadata Available:
Metadata is available with most of the data available in the Yukon Spatial Data Clearinghouse. With each data set there is a summary of the metadata status and how it can be viewed (either on the web or downloaded with the data).
